I work for a government agency, and my office was in need of a shredder with the highest level of security available on the market. I found this FD 8400HS shredder for my office, and I have not regretted the purchase for a single second.
This is not a machine designed for heavy use. My office currently has another heavy duty cross-cut shredder for daily use, but this shredder was purchased for those other documents that needed to be completely destroyed because of the confidential information that were on these pages. The shredding volume is not very impressive. I can shred between 6-7 sheets of paper at once, but I am happy to say that this shredder does its job. The machine turns a piece of paper into tiny particles that are impossible to reconstruct. This shredder is ideal for government agencies and research organizations who do not want confidential information falling into the wrong hands.
The safety features are a big asset as well. The shredder shuts off when the bin is full or open. These safety features help extend the life of this machine. The 10.25-inch feeding section makes my shredding jobs easier. There is a thermal protection feature that shuts down before the machine overheats. This is not a feature that I expect to ever experience due to the light use of this shredder. Again, the heavy-duty operation is reserved for another shredder that is designed to perform such a task.
