The innovative Prima reverse transfer printing technology Get the highest print quality with the Prima 3. The Inline Lamination Unit module integrates exclusively with the Magicard Prima. A compact, single-sided laminator, it delivers an outstanding lamination result with all possible options. When used with an optional Turnover Unit, the Inline Lamination Unit can laminate both sides of the card. By using two Inline Lamination Units and a Turnover Unit, both sides can be laminated with different types of laminates. Regardless of whether thin holographic film or patches in various thicknesses are used - the result is always superb |
The key advantages of Reverse Transfer or Retransfer ID card printing technology are high print quality, the ability to print on myriad card types and increased abrasion resistance The ID card images are transferred (or sublimated) from the YMCK dye film onto a clear film which is then laminated entirely onto the card, with the image underneath. In comparison, the traditional direct to card printers apply the dyes from the YMCK film directly to the card, diffusing the dyes into the surface followed by a clear layer of acrylic. Both methods use YMCK dye films, but the reverse transfer method uses an additional polyester based transfer film. |

Get the highest print quality with the Prima 3. The reverse-transfer Prima is ideal for producing top quality, durable cards. The quality of the finished card is similar to that achieved by off-set litho printing, but with the advantage that every card can be different. | ||||||

One of the key advantages of Reverse Transfer or Re-transfer ID card printing technology is the increased yield when printing technology cards for access control. Cards constructed with embedded technologies such as IC chips or antennas typically have inconsistent surfaces. Direct to card printers require a completely flat print surface to achieve high quality images. Reverse transfer printers print on the reverse side of a clear film which is then laminated onto the card surface resulting in consistently high quality printed cards.
Images printed by the reverse transfer technology method tend to wear longer then cards printed by the direct to card printers. The process works like this: in addition to a color YMCK-type ribbon that all dye sublimation direct-to-card printers use, Re-transfer printers include a second clear polyester-based Re-transfer ribbon, often referred to as the Re-transfer "film". Instead of transferring dye directly from the YMCK-type ribbon onto a card, Re-transfer printers transfer, or sublimate, the dyes onto the clear Re-transfer film, then laminates this film to the card.
The advantages of Reverse Transfer technology are:
The ILU (Inline Lamination Unit) module integrates exclusively with the Magicard Prima. A compact, single-sided laminator, it delivers an outstanding lamination result with all possible options.
When used with an optional Turnover Unit, the ID card laminator can laminate both sides of the card. By using two ID card laminators and a Turnover Unit, both sides can be laminated with different types of laminates. Regardless of whether thin holographic film or patches in various thicknesses are used - the result is always superb.
Connecting the ILU (Inline Lamination Unit) to the Prima printer is very easy using the provided joining plate. Simply position the printer and laminator side by side locating the feet through the appropriate alignment holes in the plate. Plug in the communication cable and you are ready to print and laminate cards.
Loading the over laminate rolls is extremely user friendly, the rolls are front-loaded, similar to the Prima printer. The ID card laminator is user programmable. Temperature and speed settings can be adjusted via the front panel display for optimum results with all card materials, including PVC, PVH, ABS, 100% PET and even Polycarbonate.
Lamination materials include thin holographic overlays and 0.5 mil and 1 mil patch laminates available in clear or custom formats.
Double-sided laminationIn addition to the single-sided ID card laminator described above, we also have available various Double-sided lamination options. You can choose between a double-sided laminator, which puts the same laminate on both sides of the card, or two single-sided ID card laminators used in line, which allows for different laminates on the front and back of the card. Please contact us to specify your lamination solution.

"Working with Clary Business Machines has been a great experience for us. Even though we are on the East Coast, contacting them, asking questions and getting quotes have been easy. And they are beating the prices of our other 'preferred' vendors every time on the first try without even asking."
"At first I did not think I was going to receive any help. I was redirected to the Mfg and they gave me the information I needed. I am glad the sales rep had me talk to the Mfg, this way the sales rep and the firm received my business because they did not lie to me just to receive the sale. After looking at many web sites, I went back to Clary because of the help I received and the up front salesmanship of the staff. "
