A Smart Card ID card has a built-in microprocessor and/or memory chip carrying personal identification data that is encoded. Nisca has designed a unique process to speed up the smart card personalization process. The usual smart card encoding process is as follows: When the card is inserted into a reader, it transfers data to and from a central computer. There are two types of Smart Cards, Contactless Smart Card and Contact Smart Card. Contactless Smart Card has no visible module and communicates by means of a radio frequency signal. There is no physical contact between the card and a reader. Contact Smart Card operates by physical contact between the reader and the Smart Card’s contacts. These Smart Cards are either programmed or read manually after the printing process has occurred. This process is time consuming, you manually have to insert a card into another device, identify each card in the system, and write to or read from it. NiSCA'a process integrates Smart Card technology into the ID card printing process. There is an in-line process that saves time and money by programming and/or reading the card in the printer before the printing starts. Through this method, the printer always knows the position of the card during the process. This is important as it ensures correct programming or reading is encoded to the correct card. |

NiSCA offers Hardcoat (patch style) and Softcoat (thinfilm) lamination. Hardcoat lamination provides superior protection against color fading and scratching. NiSCA’s Hardcoat material has been tested regularly for rigorous durability by driving license authorities globally. It has passed the tests and is available in a standard 1mil (.001 inch) or custom .5 mil (.0005 inch) thickness. NiSCA’s Softcoat lamination is the only material available in the market that adheres to the ribbon’s overlay panel applied by the print head. It can provide enhanced dye migration and fading protection. It can be applied edge-to-edge and offers up to 500 images per roll. Hardcoat’s material offers 255 images per roll. Lamination increases the card’s life, secures the data on the cards, and increases the security of your offices. NiSCA offers generic security hologram material and clear (no hologram) laminate material. You can also opt for a generic material or a custom laminate. The figure above displays the 10 most common features integrated into laminate material. |
